T-Puncher by Techivation
Techivation’s developer created an excellent transient designer plugin and has recently published this plugin called T-Puncher. The T-Puncher transient enhancer is meant to give your sound a melodic punch and strength while remaining natural.
T-Puncher does not have a demo but now it’s on sale and you can get it for $47, and just today Techivation released the FREE version of T-Puncher with some limitations. However, the original price is $79 to purchase. Techivation also offers a 14-day money-back guarantee, so if you don’t like the plug-in, you can just return it.
T-Puncher
The latest Techivation product caught my eye right away. As usual, they created a stunning user interface that is very simple and allows you to figure out the workflow in a matter of seconds. I’m a huge fan of using transient shaper or designer plugins in my production, and the T-Puncher is one of the best I’ve ever used.
Although the T-Puncher has a lot of helpful features and allows you complete control, it has two modes: ‘Soft’ and ‘Hard’. Later, we will look at each of the modes separately and explore them in depth.
Soft
The ‘Soft’ mode, as the name suggests, delivers more soft and delicate processing. We tested this plugin using plugin doctor with the default settings, and you can observe a little bump in the mid-low area as well as a very pleasant and harmonic saturation that it adds. But bear in mind that if you change the Attack and Release times, this form will change of course. You will love it on drum when you just want to add some excitement to the sound.

Hard
The ‘Hard’ mode, of course, provides the sound with a more aggressive and edgier character than the ‘Soft’ mode. The more exaggerated boost in the lo-mid section is readily visible. This is a great choice if you want to emphasize the changes; I would use it on Rock Snare Drums and some such.

Let us now explore its features in further detail:

- Input: Cut or boost input volume in dB.
- Output: Cut or boost input volume in dB.
- Punchiness: The Punchiness knob allows you to adjust the intensity of punchiness in sounds. It is set to 0% by default, which implies that the plug-in has no effect on the level of punchiness. It can range from 0 to -100% for less punchiness and 0 to 100% for more punchiness.
- A/B: A great choice for A/B comparison is to compare 2 different settings at the same time on a single plugin.
- OFF/ON: Turn the on and off the plugin.
- Mix: Mix the processing signal with the dry signal. An ideal feature for parallel processing.
- Undo/Redo: Undo and Redo features are included in the plugin. This will help you to not lose your setting.
- Stereo Link: Allows you to use or deactivate the Stereo Link function. When activated, the loudest channel (left or right) controls the overall punch effect, which is applied to both channels.
- Soft Clip: When using aggressive settings, the soft clip option gently and gradually avoids sound distortion. This feature can be turned on or off at your discretion.
- Attack: Allows you to bring transients and peaks to the front of the mix or push them deeper into the mix.
- Smoother: Allows you to add a unique saturation to the frequency range from which you are adding or subtracting punchiness.
- Solo: When you select this option, you will only hear the processed audio signal route after the frequency range filter.
- Stereo: When this option is chosen, the plug-in impacts both the mid and side signals on stereo tracks.
- Modes: Allows you to choose between 2 different modes, Soft/Hard.
- Filter: The frequency range control lets you select a frequency range ranging from 20Hz to 20kHz for modifying punchiness and shaping transients.
- Menu: Provides, Undo/Redo, Presets menu, Save/Load settings, GUI settings, Activation setup, Over-sampling, and more.

Final Thoughts
I have tried all of Techivation’s plugins, including T-De-Esser, T-Compressor, T-Warmer, T-Exciter, and now T-Puncher, and they have all become my favorites. Not just because they sound great, which they do. Another reason is that I can get what I want quickly, which really aids my productivity, particularly while I’m producing. I always say and will continue to repeat, that a complicated user interface does not demonstrate how good something is.
As I said before, I’m a big fan of transient designer plugins, and I really like T-Puncher since it gives me exactly what I’m looking for without confusing me with too many knobs and faders. You can easily shape your sound with a couple of adjustments, and get a very rich result.
T-Puncher sounds very musical, and it gives a powerful punch to your sound without adding any harshness, which is amazing. The saturation setting is another great feature added by Techivation to this plugin that will give warmth to your sound.
You will love this plugin on percussive instruments. I personally will use such plugins very often on drums, percussions, and sometimes slap bass. Even you can add just a bit of this sauce to your vocal track with the ‘Soft’ mode and see the result. I mean the possibilities of using this plugin are endless. The T-Puncher is one of the greatest transient designer plugins I have ever used and surly I will continue using it in my project. So yeah I defiantly recommend this plugin and the great part is that now you can get the FREE version of t-Puncher now which is the limited version of this plugin. So just grab it and give it a shot.
