The Dub-SPL4 was created with live performances in mind, yet it also performs well in the studio. The functionality of a 4-band splitter is straightforward, but the highlight of this plugin is its simplicity and convenience of usage.

There’s no need for an hour-long tutorial to figure out how to use the plugin. Simply download and install it from the Sound Fingers website.
Dub-SPL4 is available in VST3 and AU formats for both 64-bit Windows and macOS. There are currently no VST2 or AAX versions available, however, the creator promises to provide an AAX format for ProTools users in the near future.
Based on the frequency of the sounds, the plugin allows you to split and separate your audio into four parts:
- Sub – Below 70Hz
- Low – 70-600Hz
- Medium – 600Hz-3KHz
- High – Above 3KHz
FREE DONWLOAD:
You can instantly regulate the volume of each of the four bands with the knobs. With the flip of a switch, you can turn each band on and off. The kill switch, located beneath the volume knobs of the four bands, quickly cuts the frequencies of the corresponding band.
A Low Pass (LP) and a High Pass (HP) filter are also available. You can use the resonance control to choose a high-Q for more precise cuts or a low-Q for rounder cuts.
The Dub-SPL4 also has a feature called MIDI Learn, which allows you to manipulate every part of it live using your MIDI controller. However, this is dependent on your DAW. We put it to the test with Reaper, and it worked well.

The plugin is small, with an installation size of only 10 MB. The user interface is simple and straightforward, with huge knobs that have a brushed aluminum appearance. There is no lag, and the performance is well-optimized. Though this splitter was developed for dub, it can be used for almost any genre, including Techno, Hip-Hop, Electro, and whatever else you can think of.
This plugin has a wide range of applications: it can be used on a master bus during live performances, or it can be used during mixing to hear isolated frequency bands. You may cut the high-end from a bass track or remove the bass from a guitar track.
Sound Fingers maybe a little indie label, but they’ve already put out a fantastic collection of VST instruments and libraries, both paid and free. You may also get the Dub Siren Si-007 and SolidSub Kontakt libraries for free if you sign up for their newsletter!
