It’s been claimed that everything has music in it. Some designers milk this concept for all it’s worth, and we get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Desk Bell is a playable and morphable Kontakt patch that uses recordings of a front desk bell found in hotel or doctor’s reception facilities, as the name suggests.
The instrument is made up of 400 distinct table bell samples. These recordings are essentially the same bell that has been captured in a variety of settings and with various microphone configurations. You may use your MIDI keyboard/controller to play these samples chromatically with NI Kontakt to produce some unusual-sounding hooks and melodies.
You may make a simple bell instrument into airy pads or organs using the customized Kontakt interface. The LFO modulators can be used to generate some new and unusual sounds that work well with a variety of musical styles. You can also use the Kontakt interface to add a variety of effects to your Desk Bell for a more complex sound composition.
All of the common effects, such as reverbs, phasers, flangers, delays, and more, are available in the FX Rack. You may also use your bell to regulate the swing, tempo, and groove motions of an arpeggiator.
The modest Desk Bell patch contains a surprising amount of playability. The instrument itself is a fantastic addition for any composer trying to broaden their scoring toolkits or producers searching for a distinctive new toy to use in their productions.
